Recycled Lemon Peel

For the past few months I have been making water kefir religiously.  Every three days I'm birthing one jar and starting another.  Each batch uses half a lemon.  That means I have been throwing away the peel of about four organic lemons per month!  They smell absolutely delightful and it pains me to toss them out.  Well, today I stopped this wasteful habit!

Instead of throwing out the lemon peel, I put it in a clean glass jar and filled the jar with rubbing alcohol.  Every three days when I start a new batch of water kefir, I'm going to add the discarded lemon peel to the jar of rubbing alcohol.  I made sure the jar I chose has a tight fitting lid so it can withstand a good shaking every few days.  In a month or so when the contents of the jar reaches my desired level of lemony freshness, I'll strain it and put it in a spray bottle to use as an air freshener!
