Every BODY Is Different

Everybody is different. Also, every BODY is different. We share genetic similarities with those who we are biologically related to and even those with the same disability or chronic illness. Still, we are all different and require different things to support our health and wellness goals.

I have a connective tissue disorder called, Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI). There isn’t a cure for this condition but there are treatments available like, rodding surgery or the use of bisphosphonates. You can read more about these options on the OI Foundation website.

While I do share many physical traits of others with OI, I have a lot of differences too. Therefore, I don’t feel that any of these traditional treatments are right for my body. Instead, I have developed a “Jane Maintenance Plan” that has been successfully supporting my health and wellness goals for several years.

Herbal supplements play a vital role in my custom wellness plan. The supplement I take that has had the most significant impact on my body is a formula developed by Dr. John Christopher, ND. It’s original name is Bone, Flesh, and Cartilage. The combination of herbs used in this formula supports the healing and strengthening of bones and connective tissues…specifically, Comfrey. It is so well known for its healing properties that it is often referred to as “bone knit.”

Bone, Flesh, and Cartilage was once available to purchase at some health food stores. However, due to FDA regulations the name had to be changed to, Complete Bone and Tissue. And, the FDA also required Comfrey to be removed from any supplement designed to be taken internally. For this reason, I choose to make the original formula myself. I’m not going to deprive my body of something that it responds favorably to.

Sometimes, depending on the availability of certain herbs, I do deviate slightly from Dr. Christopher’s original formula. For example; he uses Comfrey root and Black Walnut leaves or roots. I often substitute those with Comfrey root and leaves, and black walnut hulls. I feel confident and safe in doing this because I am a trained and experienced Herbalist. In fact, I received a great deal of my herbal education through Dr. Christopher’s School Of Natural Healing!
